channeling kara goucher

One year ago I decided to start exercising in the form of running. My friend Malinda talked me into running the Susan Komen 5K in SLC, and I thought, why not? At the time, I could not even run a half mile before I had to stop...and now one year later I am nearly ready for my ultimate goal of running a half marathon!!! It is a lonely process, filled mostly with the thoughts in my head, my ipod music, my shoes that I love, and lots and lots of footsteps...most of them being in the rain or freezing cold. I run because I want to finish this goal that I set for myself. Not to be the best or the fastest, but to say, I did it. My running idol is Kara Goucher, who finished 3rd in this years Boston Marathon. She is fast, slender, and hot. All things I would like to be. :)Sometimes I think we don't know what we are capable of accomplishing. I am not athletic. Somehow though, I find myself on these long training runs and I feel great. I push that last few meters usually in the quiet of the early morning all by myself... and then, just like tons of people are cheering for me as I cross the line...I pump my fists in the air and finish like a champ.

Girl, you ROCK!!!! I am so impressed and in awe at you. I want to be like you. I never stick to goals that I set. I want to. I am such a slacker when it comes right down to it. You are a great example and I just need to kick it in the butt, literally...And I echo Shauntae's response, you ARE slender and hot! Hello!

Amy,
When we first started chatting you told me you wanted to run a half someday. I am so excited for you to do this. I wish I could run it with you; maybe next year. I will be cheering for you from here. Enjoy your little "leisure" run this weekend. xox
